Dr. Deepak Polpakara

Dr. Deepak Polpakara is a medical doctor with a Master’s degree in Public Health. He has almost 19 years’ experience of working in international and national NGOs, private health consulting firms and national government institutions. He is experienced in disease surveillance, NRHM planning, RCH trainings, immunization and vaccine pharmacovigilance. He has worked as a Surveillance Medical Officer for WHO's National Polio Surveillance Project in Uttar Pradesh, India for four years. He has handled decentralized NRHM planning in Haryana, Meghalaya, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim. As the National Training Consultant on behalf of UNICEF at the National Institute of Health & Family Welfare (NIHFW), New Delhi, he was responsible for conducting immunization training for medical officers, health workers, cold chain handlers and cold chain technicians. He also tracked progress in states and districts. He has contributed to the setting up of the National Cold Chain and Vaccine Management Resource Center at NIHFW, New Delhi and the National Cold Chain Training Centre at Pune. He coordinated the first National Effective Vaccine Management Assessment in 2013 conducted by NIHFW, New Delhi with support from UNICEF. Since 2013, he has been working on Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI)and vaccine safety at the AEFI Secretariat, ITSU. He has worked with national drug regulators, pharmacovigilance partners and state health departments to help the country achieve maximum score of 4/4 in the National Regulatory Assessment conducted by WHO, Geneva in 2017. Currently, he is working as Team Lead for AEFI at ITSU.
