Dr Pritu Dhalaria is a Physician specializing in Public Health (MBBS, DCM, MD). His professional career spanning over the past 27 years in multiple fields of Public Health has a particular focus on immunization, vaccine access, and delivery, VPD Surveillance, vaccine introduction, communicable diseases, neglected tropical diseases, strategic medical & health communications, drugs, product development and technologies in public health programs. He has worked across all levels of the public health system and in different settings – from planning and implementation at the grass-root level to participate in decision-making processes at national and international/regional levels of multiple countries in South & South East Asia.
He started his Public Health career as a Research Medical Officer on Malaria Research and Intervention on sexual health (ISH) DFID Project in 1996 over the years has worked in the World Health Organization and led WHO Polio Eradication Initiative in Uttar Pradesh from 2000 to 2006.
He led PATH Immunization Portfolio (2006-2015) as Director, of Immunization and the Institute for OneWorld Health as Director Public Health leading the Visceral Leishmaniasis Program in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh to introduce Paromomycin Inj. in these countries.
He is among the pioneers of introducing JE vaccine in India and supported the program in 16 countries of Asia /South East Asia, working closely with GAVI-eligible countries to support GAVI applications for the JE vaccine. He has been part of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) from 2007 to 2010.
He led the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) India’s Indo-Africa Initiative as Director for Clinical Services from 2015 – 2016.
He joined JSI as Technical Director of Immunization in 2016, and since 2017 he is leading the Immunization Technical Support  Unit (ITSU), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India as Director - ITSU, and provides techno-managerial support to the Immunization Division, Government of India on Immunization Program.
