Routine immunisation programme for the prevention of polio needs to be aggressively implemented. Highly infectious disease polio that was nearly eradicated in the first decade of this century under the 1988 World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global Polio Eradication Initiative has been discovered even in developed countries. The discovery of the virus in New York, London, and Jerusalem has surprised many.
